GeenieBox - Beautiful Bryant Park Networking Event
Sunset. Bryant Park. Rooftop event. What more could a photographer wish for?
The Geenie Box networking and sex talk event was hosted by Chana Ewing at the beautiful home of famed advertiser Cindy Gallop, whose "Make Love, Not Porn" campaign has encouraged and manifested real life conversations about sex, instead of society reverting to pornography to get this education.
We took photos on Cindy's newly renovated Bryant Park rooftop loft and enjoyed the beautiful views of the city. Old friends gathered and chatted, new friendships and connections were made--everyone sipped and was merry. There were reporters from online magazines like Madame Noire present who interviewed a few others at the party about their views on various topics.
After enjoying the sights and sounds of the city, everyone headed inside for some food, a top up and to discuss this evenings subject: the future of Geenie Box (a monthly gift box showing the accomplishments of Black women) and a sex education talk unlike any I have seen before. An honest discussion about: How can we make these conversations more open? How can we create an environment where both men and women can comfortably say how they really feel and what they really want? And how can we help them not feel like they have to play some character in an adult movie?
I love being an event photographer in NYC because of all the different places I get to see and the people I get to meet. To be in the famed Ms. Cindy Gallop's new apartment that is well known throughout the city, having been the location for photoshoots and music videos galore. Cindy has a unique perspective and I learned a lot just from that small talk. Of course I really like how the photos came out and the location made the job so easy! It's nights like these that the possibilities of the future feel endless! Have a look at the talk and more images from Cindy's apartment below:
